DESCRIPTION:
This belt buckle is a Hopi classic! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this belt buckle, the second layer forms a magnificent Bear Paw and animal design that gives the piece a remarkable finish. In Native American beliefs, the bear paw is usually considered a way to call for the power of the animal spirit, or as an indication of the presence of the spirit. It is a symbol that represents inner strength. In Native American beliefs, the water waves design represents continuous life. The belt buckle is stamped sterling and hallmarked.
